How do I get rid of it? Posted on Jan 25, PM. Page content loaded. Jan 25, PM in response to cynthial78 In response to cynthial Deleting apps on the phone is accomplished by holding down on the app icon until it starts to wiggle, and an X should appear next to the icon. On another note, does someone else share your Apple ID that could have downloaded the app and make it show on your device. Jan 25, PM. No X appears on the app icon when I try to delete it.

The other user did not download this app. And I do not have the option for profiles under the settings that Antonio suggested. Any other thoughts? Do the apps start to wiggle? Do you have Restrictions on? I just noticed the same icon of a large red D against a black background. Couldn't delete it, but after resetting my phone it went away. Is this a virus or somekind? Please let me know if so. Jan 26, AM in response to cynthial78 In response to cynthial If a strange app has appeared on your iOS device, someone may have hacked your Apple ID and used it to download that app.

This could, depending on your device's settings, cause that app to be automatically downloaded on your device. Note that it doesn't matter if the app is free Check your purchase history. By default, apps will be listed in order of purchase, with the most recently purchased sorted at the top. If you see apps on this list that you know you did not download, and that nobody with access to your Apple ID downloaded, then this is confirmation that your Apple ID has been hacked.

In the event that you have been hacked, you will need to immediately log in to appleid. While you are there, you should also enable two-factor authentication on your Apple ID , to prevent hackers from taking control of it, and potentially locking you out of your iOS devices permanently.

Jan 26, AM. Hi Thomas, thanks for this info, but I don't see an app that I didn't download I've changed my password and added the two factor authentication.

Is there anything else that I can do to check if anything has been stolen from my iPhone? Jan 26, AM in response to naronsons In response to naronsons. Your phone itself hasn't been hacked, unless 1 you hacked it yourself by jailbreaking it and then got infected with malware, or 2 someone malicious has had physical access to your phone. There's no known malware capable of infecting an iPhone if neither of these conditions is met. So, nothing has been stolen from your phone.

Online accounts of any kind are another story entirely, and can easily be hacked, but this would not be related to any mysterious icons showing up on the iOS desktop.
